124/366 - Freshly picked persimmons

A gift from a lovely friend at work. . . and one of our absolute favourite seasonal treats!

123/366 - Urban sunset

Driving home through Stoke, Nelson I was mesmerised by the sunset so had to park my car and jump out and take a few photos on the iPhone (all I had with me. . .)

122/366 - Graphite gumleaf

A beautiful yet functional graphite sculpture by San Francisco artist Agelio Batle. A very generous gift from VG. Although it looks beautiful and is incredibly tactile, it is so much more than just a piece of art! It's a working pencil, which fits into the hand incredibly well, almost twirling around it!

119/366 - "Food Miles" are so outdated - we use "Food Paces"!

This is what we bought at the Todd Brothers' Farm stall this morning, right there on the farm in Appleby. It came to a grand total of NZ$14.50 for a cauliflower, some Brussels sprouts, green beans, bunch of beetroot, cherry tomatoes and coriander.

As the Wifie said, this is a place where you measure "Food Paces" as opposed to "Food Miles"!!

118/366 - Self-portrait!

Modelling Crocus Vernus fingerless mitts which I just finished knitting, and holding the mug I painted recently at Pottering About.

115/366 - Waimea estuary reflections

The view from our dog walk this afternoon, literally 5 minutes from home . . . What a beautiful place I live in!

114/366 - First frost

The first frost of the year. Well, actually the 2nd, but I slept through the first one (yesterday.)

113/366 - Szilvás Gombóc (Hungarian plum dumplings)

Freshly made for us today by the Wifie's mum, who just so happens to be Hungarian and an amazingly good cook! These plum dumplings are a firm favourite of ours, and in appearance they remind me a little of those insignificant brown geode rocks that are cracked open to reveal amazing crystalline formations inside. Not saying they taste like rocks though (!) they are wonderfully tender and succulent morsels with a light sweetness and delicious plummy tang. . .

110/366 - Moto-man

Moto-man is made from old auto parts, and lives at Mapua Auto Centre. Very inventive :)

109/366 - Mapua bedstead fence

I sometimes walk past this fence, and am constantly intrigued by its ingenuity! Frodo seems pretty interested too! Stafford Drive/Warren Place, Ruby Bay.

107/366 - All the leaves are brown

Autumn evening dog walk, and the colours of this tree really stood out (more so than you can see in the photo!)

106/366 - Cream tea for Mothers' Day

Sonny Jim baked some heart-shaped scones for Mothers' Day today, and we topped them with Wangapeka Dairy clotted cream and homemade plum jam. Yum!!

103/366 - Old mates

The ubiquitous New Zealand cabbage tree (Cordyline Australis), with its old mate the NZ flax bush/harakeke plant - Phormium Tenax.

On the walking track to Langford Drive, Mapua.

99/366 - Super Moon

14% bigger and 30% brighter than a regular moon, so I joined the throng of people worldwide trying to take a photo of it. But I was really disappointed with my attempts at getting a good photo of the "Super Moon" tonight, being hindered by my poor preparation and my camera being jammed onto "delayed shutter release." Oh well, here is my best effort anyway, but if you want to see some really good photos, try this link. However, one of the very best Super Moon photos I have seen was taken by a very talented friend of mine in Nelson  - Clancy your shots were amazing :)

98/366 - Segway adventure!

Sonny Jim and I had a wonderful Segway tour around Nelson today, thanks to our half price GrabOne vouchers. It was incredibly exhilarating and great fun! If you live locally and want to have a go, contact Move Nelson for more details.

I took this photo whilst chasing Sonny Jim around the football field steering with one hand and operating the iPhone with the other, so it's a real action shot!!

97/366 - Incey Wincey spider

We found this hiding behind the blender on the kitchen worktop! Photographed it and then released it outside. If anyone looking at this knows what kind of spider it is, please let me know. . . thanks!
